Why families trust us

SeniorsAssistants is an independent editorial resource — not an agency. We don't employ caregivers. We research, evaluate, and match. Your information stays private and you're never pressured to commit.

About our editorial standards
The matching process

How we match families with care

From your first form submission to a live care arrangement, here's exactly what happens.

Tell us your situation

Fill in our short form — your ZIP code, the type of care needed, your timing, and your approximate budget. It takes about 90 seconds. You can also add a name and email if you'd like us to follow up directly.

No account needed. No credit card. Nothing to sign.

We surface vetted options

Our editorial team reviews your needs and matches you with licensed, insured private-pay providers in your area. We screen for caregiver hiring standards, licensure, and client reputation before anyone enters our network.

Typical turnaround: one business day or less.

Connect and decide at your pace

You review the options, ask questions, and connect directly with providers you choose. SeniorsAssistants does not participate in provider negotiations, pricing, or scheduling — you remain fully in control.

No obligation to start — ever.

In depth

What families can expect

Choosing home care for an aging parent or spouse is one of the most significant decisions a family can make. It affects daily life, finances, safety, and emotional well-being. At SeniorsAssistants, we believe you deserve straightforward guidance — not a sales pitch, and not a confusing list of 300 providers with no way to compare them.

Here is what actually happens from the moment you submit your information to the moment care begins.

Step 1: What we ask — and why

Our form asks for five pieces of information: your ZIP code, the type of care needed, how urgently care is needed, your approximate budget range, and an optional name and email for follow-up. That's it.

We ask for your ZIP code because home care is deeply local. Hourly rates, available providers, and licensing requirements differ by county and state. A match that works for a family in Bergen County, NJ, may look very different from one in Ocean County. Precise location data lets us give you genuinely useful options rather than generic referrals.

We ask about care type because the skills required for companion care are different from those required for dementia care or post-hospital recovery. Matching on care type means the providers we surface have the right training and experience for your loved one's specific needs.

Your data is yours. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone outside the matching process. The details you provide are used only to identify appropriate care options for your family.

Step 2: What "vetted provider" actually means

We use the phrase "vetted provider" deliberately, and we want to be transparent about what it means in practice.

Every provider in the SeniorsAssistants network must meet a baseline set of editorial criteria before we surface them in matches:

Being "vetted" is a starting point, not a guarantee. No agency is perfect. We recommend that families conduct their own conversations with any provider before committing — ask about caregiver consistency, backup coverage, and their process when a caregiver calls out sick.

Step 3: The conversation is yours

Once we provide matches, our involvement ends. We don't charge families a referral fee, we don't sit in on provider conversations, and we don't receive a percentage of care hours. Our matching is editorially motivated — we want families to find good care, because that is what builds our reputation as a trusted resource.

What you do with the options we surface is entirely your decision. Many families contact two or three providers, interview caregivers, and start care within a week. Others take a month. Some families use SeniorsAssistants as a first step in research that takes several months. Every timeline is valid.

No pressure, ever. SeniorsAssistants is compensated by providers who value the quality referrals we send them — not by transaction volume or how quickly families sign contracts. This aligns our interests with yours: we succeed when families find the right fit, not just any fit.

Why the service is free to families

Families often ask why there's no cost on their end. The short answer is that SeniorsAssistants operates on a model common to independent referral resources: we are compensated by the providers who join our network, not by the families we help.

Providers pay to be considered for matches and to be included in our editorial guidance. They are willing to do this because the families we serve are specifically looking for private-pay home care — a well-matched referral is more valuable to a provider than generic advertising. This arrangement means our service can remain free to families indefinitely.

It also means we have a structural incentive to maintain editorial standards. If we match families with poor providers, families won't trust us, providers won't value our referrals, and our network deteriorates. Quality matching is the foundation of the model.

When care needs to start quickly

Some families come to us in a crisis — a parent was just discharged from the hospital, or a fall has made it clear that someone can no longer be safely alone. We understand that urgency. If your situation is time-sensitive, select "As soon as possible" when you fill out your timing preference, and we will prioritize your match.

Most families in urgent situations can begin care within 48 to 72 hours. Some providers can begin care within 24 hours for certain care types. Being as specific as possible about your needs and location helps us find providers with immediate availability.

Questions answered

How it works — common questions

Yes. Our matching service costs families nothing. There is no fee, no obligation, and no pressure to commit to any provider. We are compensated by our network of vetted providers — not by families seeking care.
What does "vetted provider" mean?
A vetted provider is a licensed, insured private-pay home care agency that has passed our editorial review process. We assess licensure status, caregiver hiring standards, insurance coverage, and client reputation before including any provider in our network.
How long does the matching process take?
Most families receive their first care options within one business day. If your need is urgent, you can note that in your request and we prioritize accordingly. Some families connect with a provider and begin care within 48 to 72 hours.
Am I obligated to use a provider you match me with?
Not at all. Our matching is informational — you review options, ask questions, and decide entirely at your own pace. There is no contract with SeniorsAssistants and no pressure to commit.
What if I'm not ready to start care yet?
That's completely fine. Many families use SeniorsAssistants months before care is needed so they can compare options, understand costs, and have a plan in place. You can start researching now with no obligation.
Do you cover areas outside New Jersey?
We launched with comprehensive New Jersey coverage. Expansion to New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Florida, and California is underway. Enter your ZIP code on the Find Care page and we'll confirm what's available in your area.
